Pneumatic Compression Modality

Air Compression Manipulation Therapy (ACMT)

Air Compression Manipulation Therapy uses inflatable sleeves worn over the legs or arms. The air chambers fill and release in sequence, from the far end of the limb towards the body, to support blood and lymph flow, ease swelling and relax tired, heavy muscles.

Evidence-Based Recovery Milestones

How care typically progresses, from the first assessment to lasting results.

  1. Phase 01

    Circulatory Screening & Suitability Check

Reviewing your history, skin and limb condition to rule out clots, infection, heart or arterial problems before any compression.

  2. Phase 02

    Sleeve Fitting & Pressure Calibration

Fitting the sleeve and setting a comfortable pressure and cycle time for your limb.

  3. Phase 03

    Sequential Compression Session

The chambers inflate and release in sequence for a rhythmic, massage-like squeeze while you rest.

  4. Expected Outcome

Lighter Limbs, Less Swelling & Easier Recovery

Used alongside exercise and movement advice as one part of your overall physiotherapy plan.

Phases and timelines are typical ranges, not promises. Your physiotherapist sets your plan after an in-person assessment, and progress varies from person to person.

Clinical Consultation Guidelines

Please tell us if you have a history of blood clots (DVT), heart or circulation problems, a skin infection or recent surgery. Air compression is not suitable in some of these conditions.
